I had the previous version of this and the mold was made of plastic. It disintegrated while in the game closet. It got all oily and weird like old fishing lures. The tray is hard to clean but since you are making mixed crayons with all sorts of colors not one in a single color a little bit of leftovers don't mess anything up.
