Hello! If you are new here check out No Time For Flash Cards on Pinterest and join our Facebook community for more great ideas.
Other than reading the one activity that we do daily here at our house is playdough. We have a playdough bucket in our playroom and a drawer in the kitchen filled with playdough and all sorts of fun add ons. Here are our favorite things to add to playdough. You don’t need fancy activities you just need to put out playdough and a few fun add-ons and let creativity blossom.

What do you add to playdough to make it more fun?
Janie says
Curious….how do you get the play doh out of some of the objects you suggest adding to the play doh….legos, shells, wooden beads, combs, etc. I have 18 students ages 4-5 and I don’t have time to clean the play doh out of the crevices, etc. Just giving them scissors–which I do reluctantly–creates a big mess of tidbits on the floor. Please don’t see my questions as criticisms….quite the contrary as I use your ideas very often. (I teach English in northern Thailand.)

That is a GREAT question. Most comes out right away if you use a larger ball of playdough as a stamp. If that doesn’t work then I let it dry and then chip it off once it’s completely dry. The third step if neither of those work is to soak it in warm water overnight. It will come right off.

Things we like are match sticks, golf tees, marbles. Cookie cutters, googly eyes, straws, today we used dried spaghetti, and cable ties. I love plastic animals. Best thing to add is imagination! We go on so many adventures just from making up stories and scenarios.

My 2 1/2 year old and my 16 month old made handprints. We used a toothpick to write names and date, then put it outside in the sun to dry. So much easier than concrete, and more definition, too. Thanks for posting these other ideas!

I use flour (a cup), baking soda (a tbsp), salt (half tblsp) and coffee water (less than a cup)We mix everything (it smells delicious) we make a figure an then it goes to the oven for about half an hour or until it is hard. It will be very hot so appart your kid. I t will be like an old figure!

My grandkids like to use the egg slicer with play doh.

My (now grown) son loved to put a glob of old, tough Playdoh ~ that was no longer fun to smoosh ~ on a cafeteria tray along with a bit of water and drive his chunky-wheeled “work trucks” through it to make a fun construction site. Toy dinosaurs also visited these mucky, wet landscapes… (nicely contained on the shallow-lipped tray!)

Add coffee stirrers with straws

I use a Kool-aid no sugar packet to make smelly colorful dough. Use one packet instead of cream of tarter. I set out potato head pieces for some creative ,fun figures!
