The only thing I love more than making ornaments at Christmas is curling up with a great holiday movie. The folks at Fox Home Entertainment asked if I would be a part of their 12 Days Of Fox Christmas campaign and share a fun DIY tutorial to go along with Mr. Popper’s Penguins. Mr. Popper’s Penguins is one of the holiday films that is now available via digital download. What this means if you can buy it when you want to, from your home, and not worry about getting out of the house on time, power struggles over concession treats, and you can wear your Christmas PJs without anyone looking at you like you are nuts. Honestly, though the BEST part of digital downloads are that you can watch them when and where you want, you can even pop the tablet in the middle of the craft room and make this awesome DIY penguin ornament WHILE you watch.
How To Make A DIY Penguin Ornament
Gather your materials. You will need a clear plastic or glass (for adults only) ornament with a removable top, a bag of black pom poms, white acrylic paint, orange acrylic paint, paint brushes, and self-adhesive googly eyes. You may also want a small cup to hold the ornament while painting.
Start by taking the top off the ornament and filling the ornament with black pompoms.
Pop the top back on.
Paint a wide white heart on the ball and let dry. In a pinch, you can take a hair dryer to it on a warm setting to make the paint dry faster.
Paint a very small triangle in orange to finish it off.
Let dry and hang up on your tree.
