We are traveling right now, and I had no intention of working at all while away but when we were back in the flat one afternoon in Lisbon after a morning of touring castles, I looked at the empty paper rolls on the shelf and asked my youngest if she felt like making something with them. She was all excited and immediately asked to make kitties, her very favorite animal ever! One of the things I love most about times like this is that we had to creatively think about how to turn a plain roll into a cat craft. Together we discussed the best way, and this is how we each made a paper roll cat craft. Oh and these make rad puppets too!
Gather your materials. You will need a paper roll, some scissors, and markers. Of course, you could make it fancier, but that is all we had on hand.
Start by flattening your roll and cutting a v out of the top. Then cut the sides to match the V to make ears.
Trim the bottom of the roll to give the kitty a chin.
Color – I didn’t realize my daughter had hair chalk with her, but she had some in her pencil case and used it to make her cat pink.
I made a traditional kitten
All done. Who says you have to buy souvenirs? You can make them by crafting on the go.
[…] Paper Roll Cat – many daycare providers, can’t use these rolls anymore, but if you are at home practicing social distancing, there are no rules to follow! […]
