We recycle crafts as well – large paintings are used as wrapping paper for the grandmas, little paintings are used as colourful paper for different crafts. Anything we’re “done” with is given to the boy to practice his cutting, and then we use the scraps for yet more crafts. It’s the only way I can justify the amount of money I spend on the supplies. lol

I had a friend make a recommendation years ago of how to keep your children’s artwork from taking over your home. Whenever they make something or bring something home from school, take a picture of it. Once you’ve collected a bunch of pictures, you can have prints made and let the kids scrapbook them, or you can have a book made (this is what I do) from a site like blurb.com, snapfish.com, or the equivalent. The actual artwork can stay on the fridge for a week or two, and we do save some of their favorite works, but the rest will be documented in books.
