Yes it just seems so hard to find the balance sometimes! My son loves Woody from Toy Story but has only seen about 30 minutes of the original movie. To him he's just a cowboy but is EVERYWHERE all of a sudden. They are marketing geniuses , the little girls I nannied a few years ago had no tv at all, and yet like yours knew all the characters too.

Great idea! I've done this with those little cereal boxes, and my daughter would match them up. Just cut after you finish the box.

Great idea! I totally understand where you're coming from on the TV/movie characters. We don't even have a television (well we do, but not TV service), and yet my two year old seems to be innately drawn to Disney princesses, Dora, etc.

Even worse, they are marketing geniuses! I can't take a trip to Target without seeing Dora lunchboxes and Disney princess folders and underwear and yada yada yada.

Anyway, I love this idea! I'll have to try it soon. Stumbled across this blog recently and it's one of my favorites! Thanks for sharing all your ideas!
