[…] Did you know that today marks the 50th anniversary of EARTH DAY? As we’re stuck indoors during this Coronavirus Pandemic, our world is seeing some positive changes in the environment. This is cause for celebration. But, it’s also a warning that we need to remember how the environment has improved during this time. Can we maintain it? Can we make the necessary changes to HELP our environment? Or, as soon as the world is “re-opened,” will we return to our old ways and make the environment even worse than it was before? The Bible tells us to care for our Earth. We must consider the part we have to play in that command.I have several ideas to help you think of the environment, and how we can do our part to help the planet. Here are some web sites you might want to look at today:https://www.plt.org/educator-tips/nature-walk-activitieshttps://www.undercoverclassroom.com/recycled-paper-in-classroom/https://tinkerlab.comb/fairy-garden/https://tinkerlab.com/two-creative-outdoor-activities/https://artclubblog.com/2012/03/22/dioramas/#more-3144https://www.notimeforflashcards.com/2012/04/15-recycled-paper-roll-crafts-for-earth-day.htmlhttps://artfulparent.com/printing-leaves-on-fabricPINTEREST is also a great source for EARTH DAY activities. One of my long-time friends has made a video, demonstrating how you can use a reusable wrap for your produce. She makes her own. But, you can purchase beeswax produce wraps from a variety of places. Check for some on Amazon (just note that shipping is rather slow right now). Here’s my friend Cynthia’s video. We have been friends forever…going to camp together, being in the Girl Scouts together… She’s a pretty famous hiker with the New Hampshire crowds, and spends many of her days outdoors in nature! Check it out:https://www.facebook.com/cynthia.walthour/videos/10216641537170741/You might also want to read THE LORAX by Dr. Seuss to learn more about environmental issues. You can also watch the movie version. It is available on Amazon Prime (it does have a rental fee), or other streaming sites.Likewise, you might want to read THE BOY WHO HARNESSED THE WIND by William Kamkwamba and Bryan Mealer. This is also out on video and can be watched on NETFLIX. Depending on your subscription level, there may be a rental cost. However, it’s worth the watch.Spend some time today outside, appreciating the nature around you. You might want to re-visit the blog post on APRIL 9th and do an outdoor scavenger hunt.Have fun learning about Earth Day, the environment, recycling, and caring for the earth! Stay safe. Stay healthy. God bless. […]
