Does anyone know the title of a book in which the townsfolk wear pantaloons, almost like a clown costume? I don’t remember if they were unhappy and then became happy and started to wear this clothing, or always did. The other aspect of the story had to do with a crystal ball under the sea that I think needed to be found? I can’t remember, it’s not much to go on but I thought I’d try. Must be a 60’s or 70’s publication.
