Hello! If you love our Masking Tape Mummy but are checking us out for the first time and like what you see you can subscribe here , follow us on facebook and find more ideas on Pinterest too!
This was a total spur of the moment Halloween craft . I had the masking tape out on the table and my daughter was playing with it while I was rummaging through the art closet trying to get inspired. I turned around to ask her not to waste it and inspiration struck! We can make a masking tape mummy. We’ve made a ton of Halloween crafts for kids but this is our first mummy craft. You could totally use lighter paper and dark tape to make a ninja too.
Gather your materials. You will need some black paper, masking tape, a white crayon, scissors, glue, and googly eyes.
Start by drawing the outline of a body.
Cut or rip strips of tape off the roll and stick to the edge of the table. I didn’t get a good picture of this set up because my daughter was a speed demon with putting the tape on. Older kids should be encouraged to cut their own tape.
Add the tape to the outline. If your child takes more than the 12 seconds my daughter did with this step you can talk about the different lengths of tape or dive into what mummies really are. I didn’t get into that with my 3 year old but if she was a little older I think it would have fascinated her.
When they are sure that they have added all the tape they want to add cut it out.
Grab the glue and add some eyes!

We had great fun with this one–we used white card stock and had the kids color to their hearts’ content prior to taping, and we also put the googly eyes on before the tape so it looked like the mummy was peeking out from inside the wrapping. Great stuff, thank you!

This project is perfect for my 4 year old. It’s safe (except the use of scissors). I helped my little man create a mummy. He think that the Halloween is here. Love the simple idea.
