I don’t know of any but I will keep my eye out – I have been working on a diverse fairytale list but haven’t come across one.

Hi! I’m looking for a lesbian fairy tale book for my goddaughter. I have other books for her but her mommy really really really wants a fairy tale book. I have been looking but haven’t found one. Any help would be appreciated.

In reply to jen. You are exactly right - this is a 3-year-old post and the terms were less clear back then, I should have come to edit it when I was aware of the correct terms. I am very glad you commented so I could edit. Thanks for the book rec too, my 4th annual LGBTQ positive book list will be released soon and I need new titles.

Bunnybear by Andrea J. Loney is a great book to introduce the concept of non-binary gender identity and trans identity to kids in terms even a three year old can understand. It also has adorable illustrations by Carmen Saldan~a.

Also, I wanted to mention that, in many transgender and gender-diverse communities, the term “transgendered” ruffles feathers. The -ed ending implies that being transgender is a thing that is done (a verb) rather than an adjective (like Black, or young, or red-haired).

Thanks for sharing this list. We need more allies laying it on the line for a better tomorrow. 🙂
