If you follow me on Facebook, you may have seen my Facebook Live where I tested this glow in the dark puffy paint out. I couldn’t even wait for this post to go live, I had to find out if this glow in the dark puffy paint would work, it does!!! I love creating moons with this puffy paint because it dries puffy so making moon craters is simple. Children love this material because it’s a totally fun sensory experience and frankly it’s fun to make a mess.
At home, I’d make a huge moon like this one, but in a classroom, these little paper plates are a great way of exploring and having a glow in the dark moon for each child to take home. Glow in the dark glue is not the cheapest so these little moons make it all economical.

Gather your materials. You will need some glow in the dark glue <– go ahead click that affiliate link to find the exact stuff I used. You will also need plain white shaving cream, small unwaxed paper plates, a bowl, and a spoon.
Start by mixing the shaving cream and glow in the dark glue.
I eyeball a 3:1 ratio with 3 parts shaving cream to one part glow in the dark glue. Mix well.
Pop a dollop on the paper and let the kiddos explore.
Some kids will not want to touch the paint, that’s FINE! Do not pressure a child ever to do something for an activity, simply give them a spoon, or better yet your hands to guide into the paint. I did this with a student a few years back whenever there was a messy sensory activity; he loved holding my wrists and guiding them through.
After the paint is dry – you can cut them into different moon shapes!
Oh and look – they really really glow!

OMG this is amazing!!! I’m a new teacher with a new experience every day. I’m gonna need some entertaining, fun projects for my kiddos each day, and this one looks like it could be fun! (if not a little sticky…)
