May I respectfully comment that they are not being placed “in the manger”? The manger is the box holding the hay, that the cow or other animals meet from. They are being placed in the stable. I always taught the kids what a manger is too, since it is mentioned in so many Christmas songs. I had horses growing up and sometimes had chickens getting in the manger, but not people or large livestock! Just hay (and sometimes chickens). Merry Christmas to you!
