How cute are these gingerbread house ornaments? I think what I like the most about this gingerbread house craft is that they can be used as gift tags too! Or maybe what I like so much about them is that they use the insane amount of cardboard that makes its way to my house this time of year. Making recycled Christmas crafts is something I love doing. Using recyclable materials is not just earth-friendly it’s budget-friendly too!

Gingerbread House Craft for Kids
Gather your materials. For this gingerbread house craft, you will need some cardboard, scissors, white paint pens, ribbon, ribbon, and glitter glue.
Start by prepping the house cutouts. As you will find out, this is best done over a few days. If you have a lot to cut out for a large class because cutting cardboard takes a toll on your hands. I just made very basic house shapes.
I went ahead and added the hole and ribbon in prep as well, but if I was doing this at home with one or two kiddos, I’d have them do it. I’ll be doing this with my students as a free choice and wanted that step done so they could do the rest independently as they wish. Here is another great independent gingerbread man activity for preschool!
Time to use the paint pen to create the icing designs.
You can keep things simple or make it more ornate.
Now it’s time for glitter glue.
Let dry.
Punch a hole in the top and add ribbon.
What beautiful and simple gingerbread house ornaments!
