If you have been around here long you know that I am not a huge fan of “busy work” but there are times when we need our kids to be quietly engaged, and we need to be able to prep these activities quickly. Road trip? Plane ride? Oh, I just thought of another one, conference call for work at home parents during the summer with kids home from school. These would be GREAT for that too. These free activity sheets aren’t meant to replace conversation, reading quietly, or playing games together, they are for those times when you need to have your kids engaged to get something done, sit quietly in church or just have a few minutes of peace on that long drive.
I haven’t targetted at a certain age, though these are definitely for kids who are already reading independently. Some of these free activity sheets will be super easy, and some will be harder, but they will all engage your kiddos! Grab a clip board and a pencil ( some colored pencils would be rad too), and enjoy your road trip or church or that conference call without having to mindlessly hand them a screen to keep them quiet until you are done.
Click on the image of the activity sheet or the PRINT HERE link below each sheet to print the pdf. I kept the sheets simply colored to make printing economical, colored ink is spendy!
Need more? Here are two more sets.
Sick Day Activity Sheets – only one sheet is targetted at being home sick from school – so print these off too!
Snow Day Activity Sheets – These work all year long, so print these out too, they are FREE!

WOW!! I love the name “too sick for school?” HAAA… thanks for making me laugh today.
I agree that keeping kids busy is great, but I think it is also important to let them be bored sometimes. So they can find and pick different things to do on their own, not from their parents. Just like you said, there is time to WAIT, and in a long car-ride. I hope my kids will learn to find things to do on their own. Do you have any suggestions how to develop this “talent” while they are young?
