Did you see my Facebook Live about light table materials? I was a hot mess, but the content was hopefully good, if not you can check it out here! The goal of that video and this post is to show you the materials to see what they look like on the light table and to get a sneak peek before you buy and potentially waste your money.

Before we get to the materials let me share the link to the light table ( mine is actually a light tablet ) which so far I adore, it’s light, there are three light settings, and there are no sharp edges. I got my light tablet here!
How each material looks on the light table
These reusable ice cubes in fruit shapes invite sorting by fruit and color and as I mention in the video could be easily combined with The Very Hungry Caterpillar for a fun literacy spin. I got mine in the dollar section of Rite-Aid, but you can find similar ones here.
Bingo chips are so pretty I love how they color mix and students will love it too! I got mine here.
These glass beads were also in the dollar are of Rite-Aid – I can’t find a good online substitute for these, but they were too cool not to include. Don’t they look like jellyfish?
These little letters are RAD. They are tricky to pick up, absolutely glow on the light table, and invite all kinds of learning like sorting by letter here and writing out names like my daughter did. You can find these letters here.
Build towers, make patterns, and pretend you are in an icy landscape with these reusable ice cubes that are magical on the light table! Buy them here.
These shot glasses are fantastic on the light table and so much fun to build with! Buy them here or at pretty much any grocery store!
These Agate slices looked really really exciting online, but I was worried they would be sharp or breakable or scratch the light table… but they did none of that. They are amazing! I got them here.
Ready for even more light table materials?
These acrylic leaves are great for all sorts of activities and are a must-have for a fall light table invitation. I got mine at Micheal’s, but you can get similar ones here.
Glass beads are classic, but I was worried about how they might scratch the screen, but they didn’t at all! You can find ones like this almost anywhere, but if you need to order online I found some here.
These pumpkins were bought at Walmart a few years ago. I can only find orange ones online here!
I have used these letter cookie cutters for almost everything over the years from painting, sorting, slime, and of course playdough! I love them on the light table though. I got mine at Micheal’s many years ago, but you can find them online here.
These PAAS color cups have been used for about 5 Easters in a row, but they are great for a preschool light table too! They are everywhere around Easter, but you can find them online here now.
Last but not least these X-rays are amazing! A reader on facebook suggested laminating them to stop them from fading.
