Camp Learn & Play – Rainbows Rock

I LOVE rainbows and while originally I was going to make this theme weather I decided to make it all about rainbows with just a splash of weather activities for good measure. Rainbows are happy and colorful and deserve to have a whole week of summer camp for themselves. I hope you agree because this is going to be a rad week!

If you haven’t signed up for our Camp Learn & Play email list you can do that here! This is the easiest way to stay in the loop and have fun all summer long.

Rainbow Activities

Here are your activities for the week. Click on the titles if you need more detailed instructions!

Monday

AM: DIY Weather Station

This printable weather station can be used once, twice or many times a day!

PM: Rainbow Color Matching with Playdough

This is so simple but your kids will love it. Matching the colors helps develop skills that will eventually help with reading and math ( yes, seriously) and it’s fun!

Tuesday

AM: Cork Painted Rainbow

These rainbows are super fun to make because the corks make a great sound when you print them on the paper!

PM: Rainbow Gelatin Exploration

Not only is this a squishy fun exploration you don’t have to worry if the kids eat this, it won’t hurt them. I don’t sweeten the jello ( in fact I use Koolaid and plain gelatin to make it sour) so eating isn’t encouraged, and hands don’t get super sticky.

Wednesday

AM: Roll a Rainbow Game

This was intensely competitive at my house but you can play it alone too!

PM: Scrap Paper Rainbow

This is actually the first craft we made for this blog in 2008. It was a favorite of my preschool classes before I stepped out of the class to have my own kids!

Thursday

AM: Comb Painted Rainbows

This is a fun process art project and, of course,  kids love using combs for something other than their hair!

PM: Color Mixing Tray

This simple activity keeps kids busy for ages because it’s engaging! Kids love to mix colors.

Friday

AM: Brown Bear Brown Bear Color Matching

This simple printable is so much fun to use. It’s been used countless times by my students this year!

PM: Marshmallow Rainbow

Save this for last because come on, it’s so much fun and tasty too!
