Baking cookies is fun but painting them is even more fun. This easy Father’s Day activity is a perfect way to do both. My son and I had special time together while my daughter napped and we made these for my husband. It was so much fun and such a great way to pair art and baking not to mention they are a really fun Father’s Day gift too.
- Gather your materials. You will need a baking sheet multiple small dishes, sugar cookie dough , milk, food color, paint brushes, and a tie cookie cutter or knife.
- Start by rolling out the cookie dough and cutting it into the shape of a tie.
We made one triangle for the top
and then the tie bottom.
- Press them together.
- Pour the milk into the small dishes ( one per color you want to make)Add food color to the milk .
- Paint.
- We painted them right on the cookie sheet – it makes it easier for clean up .
- Bake
- Enjoy.

I am pretty sure I used Safeway brand dough… is that bad?

I just love you for this response! I am not a baker and my schedule prevents me from choosing to create time for making baked items from scratch… but I still want to do the project with my Sunbeams! Premade dough saves the day and your comment from an official “authority figure” helps me assuage any guilt I have around not doing it from scratch!
Thanks!!
