Super- Reader Reading Light Hat

Make your own reading light hat !! No time for flash cards This post is sponsored by Scholastic.

Did you know that reading gives you super-powers? Well, Dav Pilkey the creator of Captain Underpants does and he is on a mission to spread the word!

CAPTAIN UNDERPANTS AND THE SENSATIONAL SAGA OF SIR STINKS-A-LOT, the 12th installment in Dav Pilkey’s beloved series is available now and presently being devoured by the little reader you see below.  CaptainUnderpants12COVER

About the Book

There’s something rotten in the state of Ohio, and it’s smellier than a pile of putrid gym socks! Steer clear–it’s Sir Stinks-A-Lot! George, Harold, and their doubles, Yesterday George and Yesterday Harold, have a good thing going. Two of them go to school while the other two hide in the tree house and play video games all day–then they switch! But when their malicious gym teacher, Mr. Meaner, creates a method of mind control that turns their fellow students into attentive, obedient, perfect children, the future of all humanity will be in their hands!

When Scholastic asked us to help spread the word about not only this book but also Dav Pilkey’s mission we sat down and thought a little bit about super-powers. X-ray vision came to mind because my kids mentioned that when you are reading it’s like you have x-ray vision into someone else’s life! Well, I couldn’t come up with a way to make x-ray goggles but I did come up with a way to let them read even after lights are out. At our house sometimes we bend the rules and you can read later than lights out, but you need a flashlight and it’s hard to hold… until now!

This was our solution – The Super-Reader Reading Light Hat!

Gather your materials. You will need a baseball cap, a hat light ( found ours online for $4!), some fabric paint, some paint brushes, and a good book you plan to read with it! super reader hat no time for flash cards
