My daughter loves playing with slime and even more than playing with it, she loves making it so making it for other people for holiday gifts was exactly the right activity for a rainy weekend! Mason jars make great containers for snow slime and they are cute!
Gather your materials. To make 3 small jars full of lovely slime you will need 2 bottles of clear Elmer’s glue, one bottle of white, silver and blue glitter, foil snowflakes, a bowl and spatula, liquid starch, some washi tape and 3 small mason jars.
Start by pouring your glue into your bowl, we did clear, then white,
then clear.
Add the glitter.
Glitter is serious, obviously.
Stir.
Add the starch, we added 1/4 cup to start with and then after kneading for 3 minutes added another dash.
When you knead the slime I really forcefully knead it, I stretch, and wrap it around into a ball, then knead some more. I like mine really tough and rubbery, if you like more liquidy slime, add less starch.
Add in the snowflakes ( make sure they don’t have sharp sides) and let your helper play for a while so that you can make the lids with washi tape.Â

That’s really cute!
Where did you get the snowflakes?
Anyway.. thank you for this recipe, it was extremely helpful. I was really wondering if there were other activators other than borax, because I heared that borax is very risky. Thank goodness you used staflo because i have it at home.
Thank you so much!

Hi there,
I’m a teacher and have a ton of glue but it’s not clear. Is clear glue necessary? Funds are meager!
Thanks,
Cathy
Allison McDonald says
No it will just be more white and you might want to add even more glitter 🙂

This is just awful. It sticks to everything, no mater how much liquid starch I added. Disastrous. Any idea what I’m doing wrong?
Allison McDonald says
Oh no – I am so sorry. I am assuming you followed the recipe exactly, my guess would be to knead more.

I just made this with my daughter and had the exact same problem. We had to call my friend over to help us get it off. Way, way too sticky.
Allison McDonald says
Oh no – this slime recipe has always worked for me. I’m so sorry!

The picture shows 3 bottles of glue, 2 clear glue bottles and 1 white glue bottle, but the instructions only call for 2 clear bottles of glue. Which did you do?
Allison McDonald says
It says 2 bottles of clear glue and one bottle of white – I used all three.

Do you find that the glitter gets all over, even once the slime has been made? I would like to give these as a gift, but not if it will cause a glittery mess for friends and their parents!
Allison McDonald says
Not if you use glitter glue, if you add the glitter it’s messier So to avoid the glitter mess just use glitter glue.

Hello, I’m a Kindergarten teacher and am thinking of making this with my students as a holiday activity. What size mason jars did you use?
Allison McDonald says

That’s looks cool and fun. I don’t have any jars. Can I store it in ziploc bags?
