When we talk about sensory play our thoughts jump to squishy, wet, slimy things usually but sound is a part of learning about the world around us and is a fun sense to explore. This fun sensory activity is a great way to explore sounds. Spark a love of science by exploring these different sound tubes, and how different conditions make them sound different! These sound tubes offer a variety of sounds with a holiday twist and a very low price point. Making these super simple sound tubes yourself will save you time shopping as well as money.

Gather your materials. You will need some empty VOSS water bottles, jingle bells, red and green pom poms, red and white paper straws ( I used 5), red and green bingo chips, and mini gift bows in red, green, and silver.
Pop the items into the clean and dry bottles.
Try to use items that can easily come back out.
For the mini gift bows use the larger 500ml VOSS bottles with the wider opening, be sure that it’s still the plastic ones. Glass is pretty and pretty dangerous around preschoolers, but you know that.
Secure the lid with a strong glue or if you wish tape on the outside.
Pop them on a tray and invite children to explore the different sounds.
Which is the quietest?
Which is the loudest?
Can they guess which bottle is which with their eyes closed?
Do they make the same sounds when they roll the bottles as when they shake them?
