This is a perfect stocking stuffer or little gift for a child who LOVES play dough. Both my kids were ( my daughter still is) huge play dough fans, and like slime, it’s a great activity to keep overexcited and over tired kiddos calm during the holidays. When Elmer’s asked me to think up a great sponsored post using their products I knew I wanted to do something with their cordless hot-glue gun, because let’s be honest I really wanted to try one out. This is what I came up with, and I am kicking myself I didn’t think of it sooner. This texture rolling pin is so easy to make.
Gather your materials. You will need a hot glue gun ( I really love this one! ), some glue sticks for it, a kid-sized rolling pin ( although I think I am going to try a big one soon), and some play dough. If you are turning this into a gift, add a container for the play dough and some baker’s twine.
Start by heating the glue gun up; this one is high or low temp which is perfect to let kids use them when they are mature enough ( which all depends on the kid) and adding designs. I made this texture rolling pin myself without help – I would suggest making a few before you ask a kiddo to help, get your system down before letting them in on it, even at a low temp the tip gets hot and curious kids do curious things!
The glue dries fast; mine didn’t drip at all. I twisted the rolling pin and just kept adding glue.
Let dry 10 minutes, I held it for four then set it down for another six before using it.
Test it out; the play dough came right off it!
What a cool design.
Package it up, and you are ready to give it to someone special. Also, I need a new dollar store poster board for my “white” backdrop.
What homemade gifts are you making this year? Tell me all about it in comments!
