Christmas Angel Craft

If you are a regular reader you know that I teach at a church affiliated preschool. I do a lot of Christmas crafts, I don’t think an angel craft is appropriate for any other classroom setting as it is pretty far into the religious side of the holiday season. However, I do think this is a great Christmas angel craft for a class like mine, Sunday school or home. I love making simple crafts and this one is just that. What makes it perfect for home is that if you have multiple ages at home you can easily differentiate this craft. One child can just paint, older ones can draw their shapes, and even older ones can do the whole thing with zero adult help. I miss when my kids were little when I share crafts like this because this would have been perfect for my two ( now pre-teen and teen) when they were a toddler and preschooler.

Christmas angel craft

One of my family’s most precious Christmas decorations is a little angel that lights up from about 1960. It was my husband’s grandmother’s and I would always take photos of it when we visited her. A few years ago it was passed down to me. It’s 1960’s ( 50s? maybe) wiring makes me nervous so I only plug it in on Christmas eve, and remember the angels watching over us. Guess I’m just missing her over the holidays, let’s get back on track and let me show you how to make this simple shape angel craft.

How To Make A Christmas Angel Craft

Gather Your Materials. You will need some watercolor paper, some watercolor paints, a container for water, scissors, a marker, and glitter glue.

Start by talking about what shapes make an angel. We did a circle, large triangle, and a long oval but there are many possibilities. Then have your child, an older sibling, or you create the shapes on the paper with marker.

Time to paint.

I love watercolors on watercolor paint because there is a definite element of color mixing naturally included in this activity.

Let dry and cut out. Again, this is a great task for children who are able to manage it. Even sharing this task is good because challenging tasks help to build self-confidence.

Time to glue.

After gluing we decided it needed a little bling and gold glitter glue was perfect.
