This PreK Halloween art project was inspired by this project by Artbar blog. I love doing collage art projects with children because it’s a wonderful neutral zone where the children filled with ideas can run with them and children who have a hard time starting have some boundaries to fall back on. These haunted houses are a perfect Halloween spin on the original craft idea. You don’t have to use the materials I did, find what you have and run with it. This is a great PreK Halloween art project for free choice since some children will add a few things and be happy and others will be much more invested in the process of creating a haunted house. After they create the cardboard haunted house, ask them to tell you a story about who lives there!
How to Make A Cardboard Haunted House
Gather your materials. For this PreK Halloween art project, you will need cardboard, scissors, glue, markers, and collage materials.
Here is a close-up look at what I have for collage materials. I added some after we started creating. Halloween erasers and squishies, pom poms, buttons, Halloween-themed fabric cut into small squares and rectangles, paper, and spiders.
Start by inviting your students to draw a house.
Now it’s time for glue.
And to create!
There is NO wrong way to do this.
You can use all the materials or just draw a house.
The fun is in the process of creating.
Let dry and display.
