Are you ready to teach this fall? Many of you are already in the classroom and have been for weeks, but I don’t go back for a few weeks. I am planning my September lesson plans and adding these must-do September preschool activities to my list. There are all kinds of learning activities for preschool that kids in a classroom or learning at home will love. The most important thing to remember is that when a child is having fun and engaged in the activity, their brain is learning more efficiently. So get silly, use your students’ or children’s favorite things in lessons as much as you can, and re-read favorite books as much as you can stand it. Make learning super fun with these creative September preschool activities. For more fall ideas, check out our fall thematic units. The best deal is our Ultimate Fall Bundle!

This lesson is all about the importance of names. Start the year off right with this wonderful preschool lesson about self-identity!
Summer Vs. Fall Circle Time
This lesson is so easy to adjust ( differentiate) for your class. You can dive deep into the seasonal changes or keep it simple.
Shape Tree Art
I like doing this simple fall craft at free choice, and I use it as a way to assess what shapes my students know and don’t know while they happily create!
Fall Discover & Count Bottle
Find and count with this fall-themed discovery bottle. It’s a great fall themed math activity for your math center.
Fall-themed Math and Literacy Center Printables
Printables do not have to equal worksheets; these dynamic printables are all must-haves for your teaching toolbox this year.
Name Puzzles
These super simple name puzzles are a perfect place for your students to start learning the letters in your name, or if they have mastered that, they can learn classmates’ names too.

Pine Cone Painting
This is another must-do art activity, and the fall is the perfect time for finding pinecones to use for it.

Fine motor work that is practical and fun. Use your fingers or tweezers; both deliver great fine motor skill development while exploring some nature inside your class.

Roll and cover games are so simple but really pack a punch when it comes to cementing students’ understanding of one-to-one correspondence. So print this off, or make your own.
Hot Glue Leaf Art
This is an annual favorite. I do this fall art project for preschool during free choice, and some of my students go home with practically a pile of beautiful leaves.
Fall Leaves Discovery Bottle
Watch the leaves swirl and fall in this simple but highly effective discovery bottle. Children can see the leaves close up and explore with light and water too.
