Back to School Preschool Must Haves

It’s almost August, so it’s time to start planning for preschool if you haven’t started yet. Here are my must-have resources, planning tools, and resources that make teaching PreK easier and more fun. Don’t miss the list of articles about how to teach preschool at the bottom of this list; these are resources I use and refer back to often. No one expects us to be perfect preschool teachers; we just need to have the right teaching toolbox and know where to get new ideas for our classrooms and the right resources to meet our students’ needs. I hope this back-to-school to-do list helps you!

Start of The Year Planning Tools for PreK Teachers

Fall Lesson Planning Tools
First Week of School Books & Lessons

Everyday Preschool In The Classroom. I was sick of long handwritten lists of activities that I’ve used that work every time. Instead, I use this! Every activity is good and simple enough; I can plan at the last minute if I have to. It also makes sub plans so easy; I just make a basic outline and then add page numbers so the sub can find the step-by-step instructions!

A Linear Calendar is now a must-have for me; get your free printable one here!

Small Group Instruction is also non-negotiable. Check out that link for activities and more all about small groups!

Pocket Charts are such versatile teaching tools for preschool! Don’t miss out on these great PreK pocket chart activities.

Finally, here are my MUST-HAVE BOOKS for preschool. There are many more books out there, but that list is packed with the books I use over and over. And don’t miss my list of books that help teach social-emotional skills here!

Prep for Back to School by committing to working on the art of preschool teaching.

Teaching young children is demanding, and one of my greatest passions is helping other teachers build their skills. I’ve chosen a few quick-read articles for you like What is differentiation and why do we use it?

How to support students with school anxiety
How To Handle A Disruptive Child at Circle Time
Throw Away Your Sticker Charts
How To Talk To Parents About Disruptive Behavior
