Easy Christmas Activity

During the holidays, I love sharing easy  Christmas activities for preschoolers. Playdough activities like this easy Christmas activity are perfect for children who need something calm to do during frenetic family time. Playdough is ideal for this because even though you can add things in, children can also just squeeze, squish, and knead the playdough and chill out while they do. During special days at preschool – like holiday parties- we always bring out the playdough because it’s a safe harbor for overstimulated children. This is an excellent activity for young children to pop out while busy in the kitchen or wrapping presents!

Christmas Tree Playdough Activity

Gather your materials. You will need some green playdough, a tray to keep everything contained, a Christmas tree cookie cutter, and some plastic porcelain Christmas tree lights, You can use this affiliate link to buy some.

Pop everything together and make it enticing… you want your kiddo or students to be excited to come to play.

Knead the playdough or use a rolling pin to spread it out.

Cut out the tree with the cookie cutter.

Add lights!

You don’t even need a Christmas tree cookie cutter, just shape the tree out of playdough!

Over the years, I have found that adding simple additions like cookies cutters and Christmas lights with playdough launches play that always goes beyond the additions. Children explore the novel additions but then keep playing in many other ways.

Check out my Instagram to see how my students played with this easy Christmas activity.
