Spring Scavenger Hunt Printable

I don’t think homework is appropriate for children before middle school. Still, I do believe in partnering with parents to get kids, even preschoolers, outside more and learning about the world around them, and I know sometimes parents need some prompting to get this done! Sending home simple little things like this spring scavenger hunt printable is a fun way to encourage preschoolers and their grown-ups to go outside, get closer to nature, and explore! If you want more fun ways to learn about nature, check out my archive of spring and nature activities for preschoolers and learning outdoors!

How to use this spring scavenger hunt printable

Gather your materials. Preschoolers like to be or feel official doing things, so grab a clipboard, a pencil or crayon, and, of course, the printable. Click the button below to download the printable for free. You may also want a magnifying glass. You can get them at the dollar store, but I love these ones; they are so sturdy. This affiliate link will take you directly to them.

Now decide how you will record what you find on your nature walk. I made these boxes big so little hands can do the writing themselves.

You can do check marks once you spot something on the checklist.

You can make tally marks and work on subitizing!

Of course, you can also turn those tally marks into numerals if your students are ready to do that. Numbers are tricky to write, don’t push it.

After you make that decision, it’s time to get out into nature and look for signs of spring!

I love how this spring scavenger hunt encourages them to find more than one of an item. It is not I saw a bird now I am done but how many birds can I spot. Very nice spring hunt!
